Microsoft is trying to attract developers to its mobile operating system, Windows Phone, by reducing the cost of joining developer memberships and improving its benefits.
Microsoft is now offering lifetime accounts for the Dev Center, with a one-time subscription fee that allows developers to submit apps for Windows Phone and Windows, which costs $19 for consumers and $99 for businesses. Previously, developers had to pay the subscription fee once a year.
Compared to iOS, where developers pay $99 per year, Android developers pay a one-time fee of $25 upon registration.
