iOS users are trying to avoid the mass deletion of files that will allow the iOS 8 update to complete. They are struggling to secure 5.8GB of free space on their devices to transfer the required installation file, even though the update requires 1.1GB.
More and more users are reporting on social media that they are deleting photos, videos, and music to install the much-anticipated iOS 8, which took up almost twice the available space than the previous iOS update, iOS 7.
"I don't have anything else on my phone anymore, but I do have iOS 8," one user wrote on Twitter.
Experienced users recommend syncing devices that will receive the update with a PC/Mac via iTunes. After files are synced and copies are transferred to the computer, iTunes can also search for an update to iOS 8.

The deletion of the Camera Roll, where the device's photos are collected, has also caused confusion. Apple has released the new Photos app with iOS 8, in which the automated organization of photos changes. Thus, photos from the last 30 days are transferred to the folder of the same name and older ones to Collections, where photos are grouped based on the date of capture and location. Also, the creation of a folder with photos that the user has recently deleted caused an impression (and sometimes annoyance).
The iOS 8 update is available to iPhone 4S and later owners, as well as iPad 2 and later models. The update is made more difficult for owners of devices with 8GB of internal storage and much less available for the update.
Apple had announced many of the new features of iOS 8 back in June, and according to Tim Cook, it is "the biggest release since the launch of the App Store," although the company's head did not mention the size of the installation file.
