Korean electronics company LG has announced that it will launch its ultra-high-definition TVs with curved screens in September. LG said the 65-inch TVs will be available in Europe, South Korea and North America.
This is the first global launch of TVs that combine curved screens (OLED panels) with 4K ultra-high resolution technology. The cost of acquiring the new state-of-the-art TVs is $11,765, or 8,900 euros. The price is quite high, given that LG models with 4K LED technology are currently on the market, which cost two and three times less money.
In fact, as the president of the Korean company's entertainment division, Hyun Hoi Ha, said, OLED TVs are expected to replace LCDs sooner or later.
"In a few years, sales of OLED TVs will exceed sales of any other technology," he said, adding that LG will be prepared for this development.
