Americans and their families planning vacations trust tourists' short comments on social media, according to the Allianz Travel Insurance Vacation Confidence Index.
However, age is a decisive factor of trust on social media. According to the research, 77% of Americans trust tourists' comments online and will accordingly choose the way and the vacation destination, while only one in six, or 16%, consider travelers' comments online to be unreliable. On the other hand, only 7% of the survey sample does not know whether these comments should be considered reliable.
Indeed, Allianz advises marketers to take tourists' comments on the internet seriously, as they have the power to influence decisions and create trends. They have the ‘power’ as mentioned to guide consumers regarding where and how they will spend their money. Facebook for Americans is the ideal way to search and find information with a share of 24%. In second place comes TripAdvisor with a share of 18%.
