UK researchers from security firm Context have devised an attack against Wi-Fi-connected light bulbs available for purchase in the UK. The attack could expose the Wi-Fi network credentials used to operate them to anyone with access to one of the LED devices.

The security vulnerabilities were found in LIFX Smart, which can be controlled by iOS and Android-based devices, and could allow an attacker to gain access to a “master bulb.” With its help, the attacker could control all connected bulbs on the network and expose the user’s network settings.
