Until now, dog owners used to communicate mainly through Facebook. About 10% of the pages on the popular social network are aimed at pets. A few months ago, however, Dionysis Xenos had a very original idea. He thought of creating a social networking page, which would be aimed exclusively at dogs. Thus, he created thedogdate.com.
It works just like Facebook, you create a profile for your four-legged friend and then simply post photos, links and videos. But the most important thing of all is the creation of a large group of people united by their love for dogs. Popaganda.gr spoke with the representative of thedogdate.com, Giorgos Vogiatzakis. “What we want to achieve is to create the largest dog community on the internet. Our goal is to awaken all people, so that people start to get used to dogs, not to be wary and to encourage more families to acquire a four-legged friend. We also want to contribute to the reduction of cases of abuse, as well as dog fighting, issues which instead of decreasing, are increasing daily. An important part of the site is direct information on training issues, as well as dealing with various problems that a dog may have, in case the owner does not know what to do.
"Finally, through thedogdate.com, anyone can talk to other owners, veterinarians, trainers, pet shop owners about anything that concerns them. By extension, through the site you can find out in which areas there are shelters, in which hotels and cafes dogs are allowed, etc.," he says.
