Twitter took its time to introduce GIF image support to its platform, but the feature is finally here, as many users have been asking for .
Until now, this was only possible with the help of Giphy, but that certainly wasn't as enjoyable as sharing your own files rather than those hosted by the aforementioned website.
It's time for Twitter to catch up and introduce full support for these animated files, given that they are so popular on various platforms, such as Tumblr.
You can now visit Twitter.com or use one of its mobile apps and share GIFs you love or those that fit your online conversations.
To be fair, Twitter has taken a pretty clever approach to implementing this new feature. While you're browsing your timeline, you won't see the actual GIFs, as that would cause a lot of network usage issues and could even slow down the entire page loading process for people with slow internet connections.
Instead, if you want to see the GIF within a post, you'll have to click on the message and let it load separately. That way, everyone chooses what content they want to see.
