6 reasons your site fails

It is not just a Greek phenomenon. Internet presence may be considered a one-way street now, but the vast majority of small and medium-sized businesses either have zero or a weak Internet. And what the owners of these companies still fail to understand is that the Web has long replaced the Yellow Pages (which, incidentally, makes greater turnover online). If a user wants to see who you are, they will Google you. If they don't find you, then... Here we will present some of the reasons why a small and medium-sized business can fail in its online presence.

1. Not adapting to mobile devices

93.3% of small and medium-sized businesses are not mobile compatible. Your potential customers are usually searching on smartphones or tablets. How does your site look on smaller screens? Is it responsive or not?

2. (Anti-)Social Media

80.5% of small and medium-sized businesses do not have a presence on Social Media, let alone SM links on their sites. If you have a source of inspiration, followers, loyal to your company and you are not taking advantage of it, then what? The ideal would be to directly promote your messages or news to your fans, which promotes engagement and awareness for your company.

3. E-Fail

74.4% of small and medium-sized businesses do not have an email link on homepage . The most important advantage of email is the immediate delivery and (often) instant response and satisfaction of your request. But if you do not have an email link on your homepage, this advantage disappears. Now, you should think about the opportunities you are missing, the questions from customers, or some potential collaboration opportunities from companies, that never reach your inbox.

4. Lack of information

65.7% of small and medium-sized businesses do not have a form for potential customers to request additional information about your product or services. This is also linked to the general lack of a CRM system, which is considered costly for a small and medium-sized business. However, a comprehensive approach that aims to serve and ultimately increase customer loyalty requires this “outlay”. By providing information about your company, you can increase your customer base, inform them with regular email alerts about new services or products, and generally keep them always close to you.

5. Telephone please

60% of small and medium-sized businesses don’t have a toll-free phone number (for customers outside of their local area). Okay, email may be the dominant way to communicate, but sometimes a customer needs a phone call. Can you imagine how bad it looks to not have a phone number on your website?

6. The Battle of SEO

56.3% of small and medium-sized businesses do not have keyword info for search engine discovery. If no one can find your site, then what is the point of it? Keyword research, on-site optimization , and  off-site link building in directories and sites related to your company are key features to get traffic to website . These tactics can help your site become more search engine-friendly and improve your ranking, helping your business gain greater exposure to the public.

The above 6 elements can help improve traffic to your site, but they are only the basics. Converting an interested person into a customer and ultimately into a loyal follower who will bring you more customers is a more difficult and laborious process, but ultimately it is the Holy Grail for all small and medium-sized businesses in Greece. But the Greek entrepreneur does not have correct information, only fragmentary knowledge and tends to follow supposedly “experts” or “professionals” who tell him hares with stone lips, as a result of which his investment does not pay off and he becomes suspicious and negative about the positives that the internet can bring him. The entrepreneur does not need to become a PC expert to survive on the Web. Just do what he does best and trust those who know (and not those who claim to know), for his online presence.
