They will notify users if a government request is pending
Technology and internet giants will notify their users in the event of a government request to obtain their personal information, according to a report in the American newspaper Washington Post.
As the newspaper reports, Google, Facebook, Microsoft, and Apple will inform each of their users individually if they have been asked to provide their personal data.
However, as emphasized in the report, the companies will deliver the information requested.
According to the newspaper, sources at the US Department of Justice oppose this tactic.
As reported by AMPE, the reason is that this gives potential online "criminals" time to act, destroying incriminating evidence, blackmailing witnesses or fleeing abroad to avoid arrest.
