arrested two 21-year-old students, alleged members of Anonymous, a few days ago. Local authorities collaborated with the FBI to locate and arrest the two suspects.
According to a report by The Phnom Penh Post, the suspects are students at SETEC Institute, a private university in Cambodia.
The two young men are charged with hacking and computer intrusion and face up to two years in prison. Bun King Mongkolpanha, also known as “Black Cyber” or “Machine,” and Chu Songheng, also known as “Zoro,” were arrested on April 7 and are being held in custody awaiting trial. Authorities had been monitoring the two hackersfor eight months before issuing warrants for their arrest.
“These are the first members of the Anonymous group to be arrested by the [Cambodian] police and no incriminating evidence of any planned terrorist attack has been found,” said Chhay Sinarith, director of the security department of the Ministry of Interior.
Sinarith said both suspects confessed to their crimes, but a new statement issued by police says Zoro is now denying his involvement in cyberattacks.
