Security and antivirus company ESET has published some advice for all users who are still using Windows XP.
ESET is one of the companies that will continue to provide security solutions for the thirteen-year-old operating system – which is now out of support – for at least two more years .
One of the company's main recommendations for Windows XP users is to disconnect their computers from the internet whenever possible, as cybercriminals will attempt to exploit their data using malware delivered via e-mail, unsafe websites, and file-sharing applications.
“If your computer is not required to be connected to the internet, disconnect or disable the connection so that it can only connect to other devices on the same network without the internet. This will ensure that online threats are not directly accessible to your computer, and make it more difficult for an attacker to steal your data from it,” ESET said in a press release.
