Professional social network LinkedIn has decided to focus on its core functions and services, while making large acquisitions, such as Bright. This means that products and features that did not gain user interest and are used by few people will soon come to an end.
First, LinkedIn Intro, a product that was only announced in October 2013 for iOS users, will be retired. Users will be able to use it until March 7, after which they will be offered Rapportive, which brings the LinkedIn experience to Gmail.
The second removal is Slidecast, which allows SlideShare users to embed audio in their presentations. Users are already unable to create slidecasts, while they are allowed to download the slidecasts they have created, until April 30.After that date, any attempt to retrieve a user's slidecasts will not be possible.
Finally, LinkedIn has decided to end support for its iOS app ( for iPad ) for versions prior to 6.0 effective February 18. This decision follows a previous decision, which had already ended support for the iOS app (for iPhone) for versions prior to 6.0, as well as the Android app for versions prior to 3.0.
