Twitter has reached an agreement with IBM to purchase 900 of its patents , following negotiations that began last November, following an "invitation" from the latter .
IBM sent a letter to Twitter inviting it to negotiate a commercial agreementbecause the latter used three patents .
The two companies managed to reach an agreement, the financial terms of which were not disclosed.
Now, as a Twitter spokesperson noted, the company is more protected in terms of intellectual property and can continue to develop its services undisturbed.
IBM holds more than 4,100 patents . It is a company with a long tradition in this field and in 2013 alone it registered 6,809 patents in the US, topping the annual patent list for the 21st consecutive year
