Stratasys has announced that the first 3D printer that uses different materials and hundreds of colors simultaneously is now a reality, according to the BBC.
With the new printer, it is not necessary to print each piece separately, given that different materials and hundreds of different colors can be used.
The 3D multi-material printer is called the Objet500 Connex3 Color Mutli-material 3D Printer and its acquisition cost reaches $330,000 (approximately 242,000 euros).
The "base" materials used in 3D printing are plastic and rubber. However, the quality combination of materials makes it possible to create objects with varying stiffness and transparency, according to the manufacturer.
"The new printer is certain to allow for a reduction in the manufacturing time of complex objects," said Stratasys marketing director Bruce Brancho.
