CarPlay, Apple’s platform that allows users to connect their iPhone to their vehicle’s infotainment system, has already established itself as one of the most popular systems for cars. Now, the technology is expanding to recreational boats, giving owners of the 2027 Crest and Balise models access to many of the same features available in a car.
The integration of the Savvy Navvy app with CarPlay will allow for the display of nautical charts, GPS tracking, smart routing and live weather forecasts, alongside other CarPlay apps.
Savvy Navvy, known for its innovation in navigation on the water, will provide a feature not available through Apple Maps integration with CarPlay. This means boat owners will be able to plan their trip from the comfort of their couch and see it automatically displayed on their boat’s helm. “Boat owners have been asking for a modern in-car entertainment system for years,” says Jelte Liebrand, Founder and CEO of Savvy Navvy.
“Plan your trip on the couch, hop on board and it's ready at the wheel. There are no complicated syncing methods. It just works.“

Starting with the 2027 model year, Apple CarPlay with Savvy Navvy will be standard on all new Balise and Crest Conquest and Caribbean models. Buyers of these models will enjoy a limited Savvy Navvy Premium subscription, offering access to advanced navigation and weather features. The Savvy Navvy app is available for CarPlay worldwide starting today and works with any compatible CarPlay display, including aftermarket marine units.
The integration of CarPlay on recreational boats is expected to change the way boat owners interact with technology during their voyages. The ability to access navigation information, music, calls and messages through a single platform offers a safer and more convenient experience. In addition, using the Savvy Navvy app ensures that boat owners will always have the most up-to-date information about sea conditions.
MasterCraft Boat Holdings’ move is not only a response to consumer demand for more modern entertainment systems, but also a strategic move to differentiate itself in the recreational boating market. With the addition of CarPlay, the company offers a unique value proposition that combines cutting-edge technology with the luxury and comfort sought by modern consumers.

This technological development is expected to have significant consequences for users and organizations operating in the recreational boating sector. Boat owners will enjoy a more integrated and connected experience, while companies offering services and products in this sector will have to adapt to the new market demands. The integration of CarPlay on recreational boats is an important step towards the full digitalization and automation of navigation and entertainment functions at sea.
