Trees for Cars is a mobile app that aims to protect the environment by encouraging users to carpool for their commutes. What's special about it, however, is that it is an app that was developed by a homeless person after just 16 weeks of coding lessons.
Leo Grand had the misfortune of living on the street since 2011, when he lost his job, but it seems he didn't give up... With the help of a young programmer, Patrick McConlogue, he took coding classes for a few months, finally succeeding in creating his own app.
And all this with a Samsung Chromebook that his "benefactor" bought him, which he charges after permission from the doorman in the apartment building next door.
Trees for Cars is now available on both the Apple and Google Play Storesfor $ 0.99. All proceeds will go to Grand, who says he wants to use it to continue his studies in programming. Truly admirable.
