A team of researchers at the National University of Singapore created the “Digital Taste Simulator,” a device that can and does simulate flavors.
This original device is essentially a temperature-changing electrode that comes into contact with the user's tongue, to which a very low-intensity alternating current is applied, thus fooling the human brain.
By using this device, the user can feel salty, sweet, sour or bitter flavors in the mouth, covering a large portion of the flavors that the average person recognizes.
For now, this device is in a very early stage of development, so we are not expected to see it on the market soon as a peripheral for computers, consoles, or other similar devices.
