Lenovo is preparing to introduce the Legion Go Fold, a revolutionary foldable gaming console that combines the portability of a handheld with the functionality of a Windows laptop.
Leaked images of the device show it attached to a keyboard and controllers, with a hinge in the middle of the POLED display.
According to The Verge, the device features a POLED display that can be folded and extended from 7.7 inches to 11.6 inches, offering four different ways to use it. Users can connect the controllers with the screen folded or unfolded, use the screen in split screen mode vertically , or connect it to the keyboard for laptop mode. This innovation represents a significant development in the field of portable gaming, as it allows users to customize the device according to their needs.

The innovation of the Legion Go Fold lies in its unparalleled flexibility. Users can use it as a traditional handheld with the screen folded to 7.7 inches, ideal for gaming on the go, or open it fully for an 11.6-inch experience that offers a larger desktop. In addition, the device supports split-screen mode, where the top half of the screen displays the game and the bottom half acts as a touchpad or displays additional information such as maps, inventory or performance statistics. This functionality is especially useful for strategy games or MMORPGs that require multiple windows.
Legion Go Fold technical specifications and features
According to the leaks, the Legion Go Fold will feature an Intel Core Ultra 7 258V, 32GB of RAM , and a 48 Whr battery. These specs make it capable of demanding PC games and productivity applications, while the 32GB of RAM ensures smooth operation even with multiple applications open at the same time. The display's POLED technology ensures vivid colors and deep blacks with excellent contrast, while the folding mechanism is designed to withstand thousands of use cycles.

The controllers are also innovative and offer unique features. The right controller can be used as a vertical mouse in “FPS Mode,” similar to the feature found on the Legion Go 2 and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. This mode is especially useful for first-person shooters where precision aiming is critical. Additionally, it features a built-in display that displays performance metrics like FPS, CPU/GPU temperature, and settings, and can also function as a touchpad for navigating Windows.
When connected to the keyboard, the Legion Go Fold transforms into a full Windows laptop, perfect for working, browsing, or gaming on a larger screen. This flexibility sets it apart from competing devices like the Steam Deck or ASUS ROG Ally, which only offer one form factor. The ability to run Windows 11 means access to the entire library of PC games, including the Epic Games Store, GOG, and Xbox Game Pass.

Practical tips for future users
For those considering getting the Legion Go Fold when it becomes available, it's important to consider a few factors. First, the durability of the folding mechanism is critical – careful use will ensure a longer lifespan. Second, managing the 48 Whr battery will require strategic planning, especially when using it in laptop mode with the screen at full brightness. Third, investing in quality accessories like a carrying case and screen protector will protect the delicate POLED display.
The Legion Go Fold is expected to be unveiled as a concept device at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona next week. However, it is uncertain when it will become commercially available. The innovation of the Legion Go Fold could affect the entire market, pushing competitors to develop similar solutions and accelerating the adoption of foldable technologies in gaming. The trend towards hybrid devices that combine multiple functions in one product is expected to strengthen, especially as OLED and POLED technologies become more affordable and reliable.
