Meta has announced several new artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities for Facebook. These capabilities will be available for profile pictures, photos, posts, stories, and more.
Meta AI 's image editing tools can be used to animate a profile picture . Essentially, the feature allows you to create motion in a static image. Meta says there are several preset animations like confetti, headphones, waves, and hearts, with more options being added throughout the year. There doesn't appear to be an option to create custom animations.

Text-based AI prompts can be used to create images for Facebook Stories and Memories. After uploading a photo to Stories or viewing a memory for sharing, the Restyle option, powered by Meta AI, can be used to describe the changes you want to make to the image. Meta will also offer preset options with different styles, moods, lighting, colors, and backgrounds.

Finally, Facebook is getting an option to add an animated background to text posts in the Feed to make them “more fun and expressive.” When creating a text post, tapping the rainbow-colored “A” icon will provide multiple static and animated backgrounds to choose from. Meta plans to introduce seasonal backgrounds in the future to make posts look more “timely, festive, and a little more fun.”

Meta has been heavily focused on promoting its AI products on Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram. Conversations with generative AI Meta’s editing and creation features on Facebook and Instagram, and Meta has also adopted it for search across the company’s apps.
