There have been numerous reports of users experiencing connectivity issues with Apple Home and other smart home ecosystems, and IKEA has acknowledged these issues. The Tradfri subreddit is full of IKEA customers sharing similar frustrations, and reviews on IKEA's website also indicate problems.
The biggest issue reported is the appearance of IKEA devices in the smart home ecosystem, whether it's Apple Home, Amazon, Google, or Home Assistant. One frustrated buyer noted that half of the devices he tried to connect failed. Even after a successful initial connection, users report that devices disappear from the network.

The company’s smart home product manager, David Granath, said IKEA is investigating the issues. He said, “We are aware that some customers are experiencing connectivity issues when setting up their devices in certain home environments, and we take this very seriously. We have a dedicated team looking into the concerns that have been reported and are working closely with our ecosystem partners and the Connectivity Standards Alliance to better understand the issues and improve the experience.”

For those experiencing these issues, the company has published some troubleshooting tips. One important point is that IKEA smart home products automatically enter pairing mode for 15 minutes after being turned on before exiting this mode, requiring manual reactivation of the pairing.
