Samsung is expected to hold a Galaxy Event tomorrow, where it will unveil its long-awaited mixed reality headset “Project Moohan,” which will compete with the Apple Vision Pro. The company says it is “entering a new era” with its upcoming “devices with native AI.”
Samsung already introduced its AR/VR headset “Project Moohan” in January, and its appearance is very reminiscent of the Vision Pro. It has a ski-goggle-like display, like the Vision Pro, and a soft, fabric seal that fits your face. There’s a unique padded strap that has a button on the back for adjusting the fit. Like the Vision Pro, Samsung’s device uses an external battery (intended to be carried in your pocket).

We don't yet know all the details about Project Moohan, like how much it weighs, the screen resolution, or its price, but the company has described it as "lightweight" and "ergonomically optimized" for "maximum comfort."
The headset will run on Android XR, a new operating system that Samsung co-created with Google and Qualcomm. Android XR is designed for augmented reality headsets and smart glasses, and is the equivalent of Google's visionOS.

With Android XR, users will be able to immerse themselves in a virtual environment or use the cameras to stay present in the real world, similar to how Apple lets users adjust the immersion level of the Vision Pro.

The headset will feature more AI capabilities than the Vision Pro, as it will support Gemini to access device controls and provide information about what the user is seeing. YouTube will be available to watch on a “virtual big screen,” Google Maps will offer immersive views, Chrome will offer multiple virtual screens for multitasking, and Google Photos will support 3D images.
Samsung plans to hold an event to announce the headset tomorrow night, starting at 10:00 PM Eastern Time or 7:00 PM Pacific Time.
