Microsoft: AI becomes a core feature of Windows 11

Microsoft is taking the next big step in integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the Windows ecosystem, introducing a series of upgrades that turn every Windows 11 PC into an “intelligent partner.” Through new features like Copilot Voice and Copilot Vision , the company aims to bring AI closer to users’ everyday lives — not as a simple tool, but as a conversational partner.

The computer that "listens" and "sees"

As part of its new campaign with the slogan "Meet the PC you can talk to" , Microsoft is introducing a new interaction model: voice chat with Windows Copilot. Users can simply say "Hey, Copilot" and request actions, such as managing files, browsing the web or getting help with applications.

The company combines voice communication with Copilot Vision, a feature that allows the system to analyze the content of the screen – always with the user's consent – to provide information and execute commands based on the visual environment.

In one demo ad, Copilot identifies the type of microphone a streamer is using in a video and suggests where it can be purchased. In another scene, it helps an architect write her resume by analyzing the project she has open on the screen.

Copilot as an all-purpose personal assistant

Microsoft is positioning Copilot Voice as the biggest change to the Windows user experience since the introduction of the mouse and keyboard.

"The transition to voice communication will be as revolutionary as the introduction of the mouse and keyboard," said Yusuf Mehdi, executive vice president and head of consumer marketing at Microsoft.

In addition to voice guidance, the company is also launching Copilot Actions , a preview feature that allows the system to manipulate files and apps locally. For example, the user can ask Copilot to change the location of photos , delete duplicates , or improve the sound quality in Spotify .

Everything runs, according to Microsoft, in a secure environment, with the user constantly informed and able to stop or manually intervene at any time. Copilot Actions is disabled by default, giving users full control.

From Windows to Xbox – and beyond

The new era of artificial intelligence in Microsoft products isn't limited to the desktop. The company plans to bring Copilot to Xbox services as well, offering gamers in-game assistancesuch as tips, guidance, and strategy suggestions.

Additionally, for those who don't feel comfortable speaking in public spaces, Copilot also supports keyboard communication, responding with text instead of voice. This way, the user can utilize the same capabilities even in an office or coffee shop.

Microsoft's strategy and competition

The new initiative comes as Microsoft seeks to capitalize on massive investment in artificial intelligence, cementing its leadership position in the market. Its long-standing partnership with OpenAI has already strengthened its enterprise and cloud divisions, and now the company is attempting to bring the same momentum to consumer computing.

Compared to Apple, which is still working on integrating AI into Siri, Microsoft appears to be ahead of the curve. While the iPhone maker is also pushing AI features into its operating systems, Copilot remains clearly more mature and comprehensive.

Will we buy computers for AI?

The question that remains is whether consumers will choose new PCs because of AI capabilities, or simply because they need newer and faster hardware. Despite the impressive features, Microsoft will have to prove that voice and visual AI actually enhances productivity and is not just a marketing gimmick.

However, the company has another "card" in its hands: the definitive end of support for Windows 10, which could push millions of users to upgrade.

The future of Windows is based on... conversation

Microsoft's new era shows that the future of Windows will not be limited to clicks and typing, but to conversations. A computer that "sees," "hears," and "understands" the user's needs is no longer a science fiction scenario — it is the everyday reality that Microsoft is building, one update at a time.
