Iran announced it had thwarted a large-scale cyberattack on critical infrastructure its (on Sunday), a day after a powerful explosion at the country's most important commercial port caused serious damage, injuries and loss of life.
" One of the most extensive and sophisticated cyber attacks against the country's infrastructure has been detected and countered," Behzad Akbari said on Monday , without giving further details.

The cyberattack on Iran came a day after negotiations between Tehran and Washington over the country's nuclear program concluded, and on the same day that a large explosion occurred at the port of Bandar Abbas in Iran. The cause of the explosion remains unclear. Initial estimates suggested a possible chemical explosion at the port, but the Iranian Defense Ministry denied reports linking the incident to the mishandling of solid fuels used in missile systems.
