Pump.fun X account hacked – promoting cross-government fraud

The well-known memecoin maker , Pump.fun , revealed that its X account was hacked to promote a fake cryptocurrency scam and the token “ PUMP .”

Pump.fun X

Pump.fun is a platform in the Solana ecosystem, specializing in cryptocurrencies, where users can create and trade memecoins. Since its launch in January 2024, it has evolved into a quick and simple means for users to launch their own Solana. However, it has come into the spotlight due to its potential for use in pump-and-sink schemes.

Recently, the X account for Pump.fun (@pumpdotfun) was hacked for the purpose of promoting a fake governance token called “PUMP”.

Immediately after this event, the perpetrators of the threat promoted another token called “GPT-4.5”, promising to delete the Pump.fun X account if the token reaches a purchase threshold of $100 million

Pumpfun announced that a breach has been detected, and is advising through its Telegram to avoid any interaction with the account

Our account X has been hacked. Do not interact with it. We are investigating,” a Pump.fun staff member wrote on Telegram.
