YouTube ads are becoming increasingly intrusive, to the point where they're impossible to ignore: but what if you don't want to pay for YouTube Premium? Well, then you're stuck with those YouTube ads, or you'll have to opt for an ad blocker.

Companies want you to watch these ads. They've paid good money to have their short clips aired. But sometimes, we just don't have to endure short clips. You've probably come across some ads that are over 10 or even 20 minutes.

That's nothing. How about a 60-minute ad? And one that's unskippable? Reports point in that direction. However, it's probably not YouTube that's making them unskippable: it's probably blockers that fail to block the ad while also hiding the Skip.

One notable example came from a Redditwho shared his experience of a non-skippable ad that lasted nearly 58 minutes. This sparked a wave of similar complaints, with others claiming to have seen ads that were up to 10 hours long or even 90 hours long.

While these extreme claims lack verification, another user, Standard-Slip6572, reports a two-hour and 52-minute ad that played before a video that was just 49 minutes long.

Some users have speculated that YouTube could be detecting ad blockers and responding by showing unusually large, unskippable ads as a deterrent. Others have suggested that ad blockers themselves may be malfunctioning, blocking the “Skip” button while failing to prevent the ads from playing

However, even users without ad blockers have reported experiencing lengthy, non-skippable ads, such as one that lasts one minute and 28 seconds – much longer than the typical advertising experience.

When asked for comment, Google emphasized the role of ads in supporting creators and sustaining the platform. YouTube clarified that non-skippable ads are typically limited to 15 seconds on mobile and up to 60 seconds on TV, denying any intentional display of excessively long ads. The company suggested that such issues could arise from ad blocker interference, which can distort playback and lead to abnormal ad experiences.
