Nightdive Studios appears to have quietly revealed the release date for “The Thing: Remastered,” with the premiere set for tomorrow, December 5, 2024.
While that date hasn't been officially announced, a recent post on Xbox Wire published late last week suggests that the long-awaited remaster will be released this week.

The post, which lists new Xbox game releases from December 2nd to 6th, includes titles like “The Thaumaturge,” “Marvel Rivals,” and the early access release of “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle,” as well as “The Thing: Remastered.”.
While the game Steam page still lists the release as "coming soon," the potential December 5th date is surprising given the lack of an official announcement from Nightdive. The studio first teased the remaster on IGN Live in June, promising to deliver an updated and atmospheric experience for the 2002 classic before the end of the year. In fact, a post on X (formerly Twitter) earlier today confirmed that the game will release sometime in December, without specifying whether December 5th is the final date.
If this date is correct, players can expect “The Thing: Remastered” to release not only for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, but also for PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.

Nightdive Studios has emerged as a specialist in remasters, with impressive re-releases of titles such as the “Turok” trilogy, “Star Wars: Dark Forces”, “System Shock” and “Shadow Man”. “The Thing: Remastered” promises to upgrade the original experience with a number of additions, such as dynamic lighting, 4K resolution, support for up to 144fps, as well as various gameplay improvements, thus offering a modern and improved experience for players.
