For the first time, Apple has allowed the introduction of a PC emulator into the App Store.

According to The Verge, you can now download the retro PC gaming emulator, UTM SE, from the Apple App Store. The app is available for free for iOS, iPadOS, and visionOS. UTM announced the release via a post on social media, specifically on X (formerly Twitter).

Apple's approval of the UTM SE app is a significant development for iOS. This may reflect a potential change in Apple's policies and a response to regulatory pressures for more choice for users.
The app will allow users to run classic software and play old games like Doom and 3D Pinball for Windows — Space Cadet. Before you get started, however, you'll need to either download a pre-built virtual machine (available for free on the UTM website) or create your own.
This isn’t the first time UTM has attempted to enter the App Store. In June, Apple rejected the app for violating its guidelines. However, this time, UTM managed to move forward by creating a “JIT-free version” that doesn’t violate Apple ’s rules . The app will also be available soon on alternative app marketplace AltStore PAL, allowing users in the EU to download it.
