Last month, it was revealed that a dead software installed on all smartphones presented a security vulnerability for users of the devices.
The company announced that it will immediately retire “Showcase.apk,” a software created years ago to demo devices in Verizon stores and is no longer used.

However, if ever exploited, cybersecurity iVerify said the software could leave phones “vulnerable to hackers” and expose them to Man-in-the-Middle, as well as risks such as malicious code injection and data theft. The severity of the situation led Palantir to implement a company-wide ban on Android devices.
At the time, Google told us that it had “not seen any evidence of active exploitation.” With the recent release of the monthly software update for Pixels, Google is removing Showcase.apk entirely. The release notes confirm that the September update includes a fix to “remove the third-party APK to address a security vulnerability .”
Other than that, the update is fairly limited, with improvements to Wi-Fi stability and performance for Google's new Pixel 9 lineup.

That's the only other major thing. Next month is expected to see a major software update, as Google plans to release Android 15 for its devices. The major update to the operating system was released to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) today, but it will be a few more weeks before it's ready for Pixel devices.
