Everbridge anAmerican software company, has notified customers of a data breach. According to the company's announcement, attackers breached corporate systems and gained access to files containing business data and user information.

The company provides public warning and crisis management services to more than 6,500 customers worldwide, including the U.S. military, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta , and the countries of Norway and Australia.
Everbridge detected the unauthorized intrusion on May 21. The attackers breached the company's systems using information collected from a previous phishing against some of its employees.

Jeff Young, the company's VP of Corporate Communications, told BleepingComputer that there is no evidence to suggest a ransomware attack. However, Everbridge immediately notified relevant law enforcement authorities of the breach .
“While our investigation is ongoing and in its early stages, we know that the unauthorized attacker had access to a limited number of files on our corporate network, which contain certain corporate data, admin user information, contact information for a few users, and information about Everbridge subscription services and enabled access methods,” the company told customers.
Customers affected by the breach are already being notified by Everbridge.
The company is said to be working with incident response experts from Mandiant and Stroz Friedbergto assess the severity and impact of the attack.
Implement MFA on all accounts by June 3rd
Given the increasing risk of phishing, Everbridge has informed account administrators about how to recognize and protect against scams and urged customers to enable multi-factor authentication (MFA). This additional layer of protection will be mandatory for all accounts by Monday.

“We strongly encourage all customers to enable MFA on all accounts and will accelerate the enforcement of MFA for all customers in the coming days,” the company said.
