To help affected individuals protect their personal information, Toshiba has arranged a free two-year subscription to services through Kroll. The subscription offer includes triple-bureau credit monitoring, fraud , and identity theft recovery.

The fraud advice option offers individuals affected by the Toshiba America breach unlimited access to a Kroll expert for advice and assistance in protecting their identity, understanding their legal rights and investigating suspicious activity.

The identity theft recovery option would provide individuals with the services of a Kroll-authorized investigator working on behalf of the client to resolve issues if they become a victim of identity theft. The services would be provided free of charge to affected individuals and would not negatively impact their credit scores.

Affected individuals were encouraged to use the services as well as contact Toshiba or Kroll for additional assistance.

A data breach, such as the one at Toshiba America, occurs when unauthorized individuals gain access to sensitive, protected, or confidential data, resulting in significant financial and reputational damage to the affected organization. The consequences of a data breach can be far-reaching, including identity theft, financial loss, and breaches of personal information.
