While Apple’s AI tools, which run on-device, may not offer the same capabilities as its competitors’ cloud-based counterparts, Gurman argued that the company has the ability to “address those gaps” by licensing technology from Google and other AI service providers. Recently, Gurman revealed that Apple is in talks with Google to integrate its Gemini AI engine into the iPhone as part of iOS 18, highlighting the key advantages of on-device processing: faster response times and increased privacy compared to cloud-based solutions.

Apple plans to focus its marketing strategy for its AI technology not on its advanced power, but on its ability to be useful in users' everyday lives. Apple's broader strategy for AI is expected to be revealed during previews of major software at the WWDC event in June.
