Nissan is planning to launch a new, affordable electric vehicle (EV), the Micra EV.

Nissan has been announcing the development of an electric successor to the Micra for years. The new electric vehicle was officially unveiled as part of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi partnership.

More than two years ago, the company said: "This new model will be designed by Nissan and built by Renault, using our new common platform."
The initial electric vehicle (EV) was a central element of plans to invest 23 billion euros over five years to accelerate adoption . Nissan unveiled its own updated business strategy last month, seeking to reduce costs and bring affordable EVs to the market.
Nissan's new "Arc" business model aims to "significantly reduce the cost of next-generation electric vehicles," pursuing this goal through partnerships and innovative technologies.
The carmaker is on the home stretch to unveil five new electric cars. In November, Nissan announced a staggering £3 billion (about $3.8 billion) investment to develop three new electric models at its Sunderland plant. These include an electric version of the Juke, the Qashqai and the successor to the LEAF, promising to usher in a new era of electrification.
However, Nissan is preparing to make a big move with the launch of the Micra EV later this year. This model is expected to be Nissan's latest affordable electric vehicle, responding to growing market demand.
Although Nissan has yet to officially announce all the details, it is expected to use the same advanced AmpR small platform found in the Renault 5, which promises a range of up to 249 miles with a 52 kWh battery, and it is predicted that the Nissan Micra EV will offer similar performance.
Alternatively, it could feature more economical battery options, such as the 40 kWh, capable of a range of 186 miles, offering it at a more affordable price.
According to Auto Express, the Micra EV will mark the start of Nissan's new generation of electric vehicles. The new low-cost electric models will feature a design that will refer to the Ariya, as well as the updated LEAF, as reported by informed sources.
Nissan has announced its intention to reduce the cost of its upcoming electric vehicles by 30%, focusing on developing electric vehicles that will target families. It plans to achieve this goal through the integration of propulsion systems, the exploitation of technologies , group purchasing arrangements, and battery innovation.
The automaker predicts that by focusing on critical areas, its electric cars will be able to match the price of natural gas- powered vehicles by 2030, if not sooner.
