Microsoft's new 'Xbox Series X – Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 Special Edition Bundle', as its name suggests, was created to promote last year's Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2, a Smash Bros-style fighting game that pits a host of Nickelodeon characters against each other in a family-friendly deathmatch. This includes Invader Zim and Rocko from Rocko's Modern Life.
However, the highlight of Microsoft's new Xbox Series X is undoubtedly the SpongeBob SquarePants console itself, which transforms the console's usual rectangular shape in the most ultimate way, turning it into a bright yellow SpongeBob box that will look like a fixture in any living room - assuming the owners of the living room have very specific tastes. Plus, it includes a truly impressive controller featuring Squidward, Gary and Mr. Krabs, as well as a copy of All-Star Brawl 2.

The only downside to all of this is the aforementioned US exclusivity, with availability also limited to US retailer Best Buy. On top of that, it also costs $699, which is $200 more than the standard model. Microsoft says it will release a “limited supply” – it’s not more specific than that in its blog post – on Thursday, March 7, so it’s likely to sell out pretty quickly.
For those of us outside the US (or those who don't want to spend $699 on an Xbox Series X), a similar effect can be achieved with an aggressive yellow bulk and a cardboard box. Just don't expect it to do much when you pop a disc inside.
