"We are pleased to announce that we are investigating the Possibility PS VR2 players to enjoy additional games on PC, offering more variety in addition to the PS VR2 titles available on PS5. We plan to offer this support through 2024, so stay tuned for updates."

PSVR 2 will become the latest PC VR headset with OLED panels, which does not require SteamVR base stations, making it more affordable on the market.

However, it is not specified exactly how PC support will be provided, such as whether PS5 will still be required.

The original PlayStation VR was made PC compatible using two non-official third-party drivers programs, iVRy and Trinus. In addition, location tracking was possible via PSMoveService, an open-source tool.

The iVRy developer has been working on PC support for PlayStation VR2 since its release and SteamVR output, but has faced significant hurdles due to the headset's USB-C cable design. The iVRy team explained to UploadVR that third-party PC support for PSVR 2 will require a purpose-built adapter hardwarenot just a software program.

Since most graphics cards do not have a USB-C port, this feature was only available on some NVIDIA RTX 20 series and AMD RX 6000 series cards, and was subsequently excluded from the next generation. It's likely that Sony will have to create a PSVR 2 PC hardware adapter in order to ensure compatibility with the PC.
