Some Motorola Razr+ users are reporting that their devices are not receiving software updates.

The Motorola Razr+ (or Razr 40 Ultra) offers some interesting features for a foldable clamshell flipper. Its top feature is the 3.6-inch external Quick View display, which theoretically allows the user to perform almost all functions without opening the device and using the large 6.9-inch P-OLED display.
However, there are reports of issues with some units not receiving over-the-air (OTA) software updates. On a forum run by Lenovo, Motorola's parent company, Razr+/Razr 40 Ultra users are reporting that they haven't received updates in months. This issue has been reported since August.

A Motorola Razr+ owner in the US, Melisa, has contacted Lenovo about the issue. Melisa says she bought the phone in June and hasn't received any updates since then. Her phone is still on the May 1, 2023 security patch, and Melisa is asking for help resolving the issue and getting the latest security patches.

Some Razr+ users have used their Windows PC and downloaded Rescue and Smart Assistant (RSA) to get software updates for their Razr+. However, using this tool will automatically reset the device to factory settings. Because of this, and since RSA is not offered to Linux and Mac, it should not be considered an alternative solution that all Motorola Razr+ users can use.

Motorola is working on a fix for this issue, but responses from company employees on the Lenovo board reveal that it has been trying to find a solution for months. However, there are some positive signs. A message from a Redditnamed muavindecocuktu reads: “Thanks, it sort of fixed it for me. I now have the November 1st update. It has been updated several times in a row.”
