MediaTek introduces the new chip , a competitor to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 for Android phones.
The Dimensity 8300 chip promises significant improvements over its predecessor. It uses ARM V9-based Cortex A715 and A510 cores on a 4nm process. The improvements include a 20% increase in core processing power and a 30% jump in power efficiency. The new Mali-G615 GPU offers a 60% increase in graphics capability and is 50% more power efficient. The first wave of phones using the Dimensity 8300 is expected to be released by the end of the year.
MediaTek’s Dimensity 8300 stands out as a leading AI, supporting models with up to 10 billion parameters. Compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the Dimensity 8300 provides similar capabilities, while the Dimensity 9300 raises the bar to 13 billion parameters. The new AI APU 780 offers additional power, is 3.3 times more powerful, and can process AI tasks eight times faster. RAM support is upgraded to 8300 MHz, offering a 33% improvement in performance.

MediaTek's Dimensity 8300 chip offers increased read and write speeds with the UFS 4.0 standard, while improving 5G and Wi-Fi connectivity. UFS 4.0 offers twice the speed compared to its predecessor. In addition, the chip allows Android with Dimensity 8300 to record 4K HDR video at 60 fps.
MediaTek seems to be leading the way in the smartphone chip sector.
