Instagram: Gets new filters for iOS and improvements to Reels!

Instagram itscreative tools, such as 25 new filters added to the iOS, as well as improvements to Reels, offering variety to the already existing options.

From color edits to options for striking styles, these upgrades let you try out different looks on your posts, as Meta. You can always adjust the intensity of any filter. This time, some of these filters (like “wide angle” and “wavy”) make significant changes to your original images, rather than just changing the color and tone.

There are also other options, like “color leak” and “zoom blur,” that seem to be aimed at users of VSCO, Picsart , and other apps. Instagram is clearly trying to expand its filter range so that you don’t have to look elsewhere to achieve the desired changes. Here’s the full list of new filters on iOS:

The new updates include a bunch of improvements to Reels. According to Instagram, they’re testing the ability to scale, crop, and rotate individual videos. They’ll soon be adding undo and redo buttons. “In addition, we’re adding 10 new English text-to-speech voices, which you can choose from in select countries,” the company said. They’re also adding a few new fonts with optional outlines for better readability.

One of the more fun bits of news is that Instagram is testing the ability to create custom stickers from your own photos and videos in your camera roll or from photos and videos you see on Instagram. The company says this feature is based on its Segment Anything AI model, though there's no word yet on how it will be used.

Some of the changes include improved preview views, faster access to audio in Reels, and more data for creators. Regarding the latter, Instagram says: In the coming months, creators will have the ability to see how many people are watching their Reel at any given time.
