iOS 17 brings significant improvements to Visual Lookup , Apple 's feature that recognizes warning symbols on your car.

This includes icons that cover a wide range, from warning lights to complex symbols, for things like air vents, defrost, and other functions.

Apple is touting some improvements to Visual Look Up available in iOS 17 this year:
Search for what you just picked up: When you pick up a subject from a photo, you can search for information about it directly from the navigation menu.
Visual Look Up in Video: Pause the video at any frame and tap the information icon to search for a topic.

What Apple doesn't mention, however, is the expansion of the Visual Look Up feature to recognize car symbols with iOS 17. It can even recognize multiple symbols and icons in an image.
After Visual Look Up identifies symbols in your image, iOS 17 gives you quick links to learn more about each symbol in Safari. This feature lets you see the name of the icon and a brief description of what it means right in the Photos app.
The automatic symbols feature in iOS 17 is capable of recognizing a wide range of symbols. These include dashboard warning lights, climate control symbols, light fixture options, and more.

To access Search by Image, open the Photos app on your iPhone and tap on a photo. If iOS 17 recognizes symbols, you’ll see a special icon in the bottom toolbar. For example, for car symbols, the icon will look like a steering wheel. You can also tap the “i” icon if the steering wheel symbol doesn’t appear automatically.
The addition of this feature is very useful for iOS 17 users , especially those who drive BMWs. Have you tried the new Visual Look Up features in iOS 17?
