After the popular Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S10 series, Samsung didn't have any major successes for a few years. However, it bounced back with the Galaxy S23 series, thanks to its balanced performance. Now, the South Korean company expects its next flagship, the Galaxy S24, to outsell the Galaxy S23.
It is expected that the South Korean company will announce the Galaxy S24 series in January 2024, as is its annual tradition, and this will be the first "AI Galaxy Phone".

According to reports from The Korea Daily, Samsung has set a shipment target of 35 million units for the Galaxy S24 series. In comparison, this represents a 10% increase over the Galaxy S23 series, which sold 31 million units, while the Galaxy S21 and S22 sold even less than 30 million units. Samsung recently announced that it expects to ship 253 million smartphones in 2024, including the Galaxy S24.
The report also notes that over 75% of Samsung phones sold worldwide are lower-end models. According to some detailed reports, the average selling price of Samsung smartphones is $295, while Apple's is $988. Some even predict that Apple will surpass Samsung's shipment numbers in 2024, which should worry the South Korean company, which has been the world's largest smartphone company for several years.

To address this situation, Samsung is reported to have set 2024 as the first year of the counterattack for its flagship smartphones and plans to sell more high-end phones, aiming to see more flagship Galaxy smartphones in the top ten best-selling smartphone list.

Daniel Araujo, Corporate VP at Samsung MX, said: “We expect demand to increase in the flagship smartphone category as we refresh our new smartphone lineup next year. We have achieved double-digit growth in annual flagship model shipments and sales growth that exceeds the market growth rate.”
Beyond that, Samsung expects to sell more than 10 million phones from the Galaxy Z series.

It is reported that Samsung internally believes that if it integrates artificial intelligence technology into its mobile phones and improves the operating system, it can reduce the characteristic gap with Apple. To this end, the South Korean company seems to plan to cooperate with Google and Microsoft to integrate Google Bard or ChatGPT services into its mobile phones, starting with the Galaxy S24 series. On the other hand, Apple is seeking to increase shipment volume to increase revenue from its services, such as Apple Music, Apple TV+ and iCloud Drive. These strategies reflect the competitive landscape and evolving priorities of the two major companies in the smartphone industry.
