The Apple Vision (virtual reality headset) is expected to lack the EyeSight feature in order to reduce manufacturing costs.
As Apple prepares to launch the new Vision Pro early next year, the company’s product teams are already focusing on next-generation versions. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is prioritizing the development of a more affordable model, even if it means sacrificing other initiatives, such as its AR glasses project.
The company appears to be targeting a price range of around $1,500 to $2,500. According to Gurman, Apple is looking at ways to reduce costs, such as removing the EyeSight feature, which uses an external OLED to project the user's facial expressions to other people.
In the latest edition of the Power On newsletter, Mark Gurman also reports that Apple will generally reduce the number of cameras and sensors in the more affordable Apple Vision, compared to the Vision Pro, as another cost-saving method.
EyeSight can be a cost-effective option, as it provides almost no real benefit to the user. However, EyeSight mainly helps people around you know what the Vision Pro user is doing. During an immersive experience, the Vision Pro user's screen may become blurry. Additionally, when the user watches the transmitted video from the outside world, their eye movements are recorded.

technology is achieved by projecting a 3D representation of the user's face and eyes onto a curved outer OLED panel. This OLED display is surrounded by lenticular glass, which creates a sense of depth. Vision Pro constantly monitors the user's position in relation to other people in the room and renders the corresponding angle of view of their eyes.
However, this advanced technology comes at a price. It's easy to imagine Apple could significantly reduce the price of the software by removing EyeSight. This seems like a good option. If the buyer ever uses it alone in a room, they won't even notice that the feature isn't there.
Alongside the more affordable model, Apple is also developing a second-generation Vision Pro. The main goal of this device is to find ways to make it lighter and more comfortable to use, as well as meet the chip.
