The next big Tera Raid event for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet has just been announced, and this time it's Rillaboom, the Grass Starter of Galar, taking center stage. While players have been anticipating the Unrivaled Rillaboom event for a while, they might be surprised by which Tera Type it will use.

Starting July 28th, the Normal Tera Type version of Rillaboom will appear in Scarlet and Violet. Like all previous seven-star Tera Raids, Unrivaled Rillaboom will have the rarity Mightiest Mark and will be quite a challenge if you're not prepared.
With Normal often considered the most basic or boring type in the game, this Tera Raid can feel a bit lackluster compared to all the other more fun ones that came before it – Fairy Delphox, Dragon Charizard and the iconic surfing Pikachu, to name a few. Some fans are wondering why Rillaboom wasn't given the same treatment as a more exciting Tera type, like Ground, Fighting or Dark.
Others have already made up their minds about the Tera Raid, calling its final boss "fairly easy," while others speculated on what exactly Rillaboom could bring to the table against a full lineup designed to take on Pokémon.

However, we shouldn't underestimate the power of Rillaboom or the Normal Tera Type. As the "Pokémon Drummer," the monkey has access to several powerful sound-based Normal moves, such as Boomburst, Hyper Voice, and Uproar. Combined with the Normal Tera Type, these attacks can deal a lot of damage if you're not careful.
Beyond the Tera Types, Rillaboom's debut in Tera Raid also marks the end of an era - all transferable Starter Pokémon have now officially received their own dedicated Tera Raid event. This includes Starters from Kalos, Galar, Legends: Arceus, and the beloved Charizard.
So once the Rillaboom event is over, we won't know what to expect for future seven-star raids on Tera. Maybe we'll start seeing legendary Pokémon like Mewtwo or the mythical Mew in our Tera Raids. That would be awesome.
