Microsoft is investigating an ongoing issue that prevents Outlook.com users from searching their emails and causes 401 exception errors.

When searching, users see an error that says: “Sorry, something went wrong. Please try again later.”
"Initial review of Outlook.com server logs, alongside HTTP Archive format (HAR) logs captured during an internal replication of the impact, indicates that 401 errors are occurring due to an exception when users attempt to perform search ," Microsoft says on the service health portal.
“We are continuing to investigate to confirm the source of these exception errors and determine methods to remediate the impact.”
The outage began nearly 11 hours ago at 12:30 AM UTC, and Microsoft is expected to provide more details in the coming hours.
According to user reports, the search feature no longer works on the web – however, the mobile version does not appear to be affected .
Others have reported having trouble contacting Microsoft 365 personal support, as they get stuck in a loop of Office 365 sign-in and service selection prompts.
The company has not yet provided information about which regions this ongoing search outage affects.
