ChatGPT is slowly making its way into cars. Mercedes-Benz and Microsoft have agreed to add OpenAI's AI chatbot, ChatGPT, to Mercedes-Benz cars in the United States.
Mercedes vehicles already have built-in capabilities voice command, allowing drivers to use the phrase “Hey, Mercedes” and a short command to do things like adjust the temperature in the vehicle, find a destination or make a phone call. According to Microsoft, ChatGPT will make these voice commands more “fluid” and natural, while also being able to activate additional features in Mercedes-Benz cars.

“With the addition of ChatGPT, voice control via Hey Mercedes of the MBUX Voice Assistant will become even more intuitive. An optional beta program will start on June 16, 2023 in the US for more than 9,00,000 vehicles equipped with the MBUX infotainment system,” Mercedes-Benz said.
Customers can participate in the ChatGPT beta program either via the Mercedes me app or directly from vehicle , using the voice command “Hey Mercedes, I want to join the beta program”.

Additionally, the company said it is integrating ChatGPT through the Azure OpenAI Service , leveraging the enterprise-grade capabilities of Microsoft's cloud and AI platform
“The beta program enhances the existing Hey Mercedes functions with the capabilities of ChatGPT. In this way, we aim to support conversations with natural dialogues and follow-up questions,” said Markus Schafer of Mercedes-Benz about the ChatGPT integration.
Drivers and passengers will be able to get weather and sports updates, find answers to questions about surroundings , and even control smart homes .
The automaker announced that users will have a voice assistant that will not only accept natural voice commands, but will also support conversations.

Participants will soon be able to ask the Voice Assistant for detailed information about a destination or ask a complex question and receive a more comprehensive answer, all while keeping both hands on the wheel!
