lineup has always lacked a larger laptop for consumers. With older Intel machines, 15- and 17-inch displays were limited to the most powerful and expensive MacBook Pros.
With the release of Apple Silicon, MacBook Airs offered similar levels of performance to Intel-powered Pro machines, and the entry-level MacBook Air was one of the most powerful laptops for its price.

But if you wanted a bigger laptop screen, you had to spend a lot more money and upgrade to the MacBook Pro. But that's about to change. Apple is finally preparing a 15-inch Air, but there's something worrying about the specs.
The obvious choice to power a larger MacBook Air would be Apple Silicon's upcoming M3 chip. A new MacBook Air with the new chipset would offer the latest technology, the longest possible lifespan, and would be an attractive upgrade for existing Air users using the older M1 or M2 chipsets.
But as it seems after a report by Mark Gurman, Apple is preparing 3 new MacBooks. A renewed version of the 13-inch Air and its corresponding Pro and a new 15-inch Air. Some of these will also appear at WWDC, but the ones that will appear in June will not have M3 technology and instead will be limited to a technology that is between the current M2.

The files also show some specifications for the laptop called "Mac 15.3": the screen has a similar resolution to the 14-inch MacBook Pro, the 8GB of RAM follows the existing Air, and the chipset has eight main cores and ten graphics cores, which is very likely the chipset among the current M2 processors.
Now that Apple is set to offer a 15-inch MacBook Air, those who need a larger display will have an alternative and won't have to settle for the overpriced Pro models because of the display. Even with an M2 chipset, the larger MacBook Air will be a welcome, if long-overdue, addition to the Mac lineup. The M2 chipset already offers consumers a significant amount of performance, which should be more than enough for most tasks. But for those who need the extra power, the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models are ideal.
