With so many instant messaging services out there, it’s no surprise that only a select few stand out from the competition. WhatsApp is one of those platforms – especially because of how frequently it adds new features and updates designed to enhance its functionality or visuals for an improved user experience. WABetaInfo recently discovered a small but notable change in the latest WhatsApp Beta for Android: a UI update!

As part of version 2.23.8.4, Google's Play Beta program is introducing an updated bottom navigation bar that aligns with the company's design philosophy! This new feature includes four separate options - Chats, Communities, Status, and Calls - as revealed in a screenshot shared by WABetaInfo.

According to WABetaInfo, the new bottom bar also resembles its iOS – resulting in a consistent user experience, regardless of whether someone is migrating from Android to iOS or vice versa.
We don't know when this new bottom navigation bar will arrive in the stable version of the app, but we'll keep an eye on the situation for more information on this front. There's no firm timeline for the arrival of the bottom bar in WhatsApp for the stable version of Android. But we expect this redesign to arrive in the coming weeks, considering how important it is in terms of UI consistency
Last week, there was a flurry of exciting news about WhatsApp. An Instagram-style text editor and fingerprint authentication for chats both appeared in the app’s latest beta update — two much-needed security features that should have been implemented sooner. Not all of the features WhatsApp has released are perfect, like polls, which arrived on the app in November. Fortunately, an update last month brought a fix, allowing users to vote on just one of the poll options instead of all of them.
