Nintendo Wii U users have reported a worrying problem – the consoles stop working if they haven't been turned on for a while. This problem has been dubbed "bricking".
Even though the Nintendo Switch has been out and on shelves for several years now, there are still a few exclusive titles that can only be found on its predecessor: the Wii U.All of these classic retro Virtual Console can't be played on anything other than your old WiiU.
It has been reported that some players who haven't used the Wii U in a long time are experiencing system errors, specifically the 160-0103 memory error on the GamePad. Unfortunately, none of these consoles had been modified or tampered with in any way, the users simply hadn't played with consoles recently.

The corruption leading to the errors appears to be related to the NAND . Factory resets were found to be ineffective, so it became apparent that only creating a NAND backup of your console could prove successful in rescuing the device. Unfortunately, doing so is a complicated process seeing as Nintendo has ended its official support for Wii U players . This corruption leaves users with no choice but to take matters into their own hands if they want to have any chance of salvaging their console.
Official Nintendo UK have not fixed any of the issues reported online. Things are further complicated now that Nintendo no longer offers repairs for physical or software bugs on its platform, leaving users in a difficult position when issues arise.

Unfortunately, the Nintendo Wii U seems to be slowly dying without regular use. As such, the only reliable solution is to power up the device every now and then to avoid potential system memory issues down the road. While we hope for better options, these seem unlikely given its outdated nature.
As the Nintendo Wii U matures, its numerous issues have become more apparent. The lifespan of this iconic console is set to be significantly shortened when the 3Ds and Wii U eShops close in March 2023. This will sadly leave dedicated gamers without their beloved source of nostalgia that has been a staple for so many years.
