Recent rumors in the Counter- Strike community suggest that Valve may soon release a new version of CS:GO called Counter-Strike 2. Journalist and caster Richard Lewis claims to have received information from various sources, which indicate that Valve is preparing to release a beta version of the game in March or April at the latest. Counter-Strike 2 is said to have been in development for quite some time and is Valve's number 1 priority. The game is said to be based on the Source 2 game engine , which will significantly improve the game's graphics. The new version will also feature servers that will provide 128 ticks (up from 64 in updaterate and cmdrate) like Valorant . We also expect to see improved matchmaking, so that players can enjoy the game on official servers, and not through some 3rd party platform . It is not certain what Counter-Strike 2 means for CS:GO and its competitive scene, but what we do know is that we may see a "transition" to Source 2, as was done with the game Dota 2 in the past - where both versions eventually merged into one. The support for “csgos2.exe” and “cs2.exe” in the latest NVIDIA drivers , as well as evidence that Valve has been testing CS:GO on Source 2 since early December, suggest that the rumors may be true!

This number far exceeds the second game in the series, Dota 2, which has only 262,745 simultaneous players.
