Xiaomi's Mi Band series has become its most successful wearable outside of China, but the company also makes smartwatches powered by its own operating system. At MWC 2023, they introduced the all-new Xiaomi Watch S1 Pro. According to 9to5Google, Xiaomi is creating a smartwatch that will be powered by Wear OS 3. What's more, you'll have full access to Google apps and services - like the Play Store - and everything will be managed through Mi Fitness (Xiaomi Wear). This watch promises to give users an unparalleled experience from one of the leading tech companies today.
Xiaomi's "Xiaomi Watch" is set to be the first Wear OS 3 smartwatch, which may cause some confusion seeing as the company's other products under the same brand don't run Wear OS. While its release timeline remains uncertain and there has been no announcement of specifications or estimated battery life yet, it looks like we can expect to see this smartwatch in stores sometime later in 2021.
Samsung and Google may have the upper hand in the Wear OS 3 market, but Diesel and Fossil offer alternatives, although these watches originally launched with Wear OS 2. With Xiaomi entering this space, customers will have a wealth of options due to better competition between manufacturers.
