Comcast Peacock

Unfortunately, Comcast subscribers are about to lose a major perk: free access to Peacock streaming . Since its launch in April 2020, the ad-supported version of Peacock Premium has allowed Xfinity TV and broadband customers to take advantage of it at no cost . However, according to Variety, that will soon change.

Comcast is starting to notify customers that starting June 26, Peacock Premium will no longer be included as part of existing Xfinity service and that they will be able to purchase a subscription as an add-on at a discounted price. Starting April 3, new customers will be able to get Peacock Premium for free for six months, after which they will also be able to sign up at a discount.

The news first broke on Reddit via screenshots that provided more details. “Customers will be presented with discounted offer details within the Peacock app,” an internal message reads. “Stay tuned for offer details and more information.” NBCU has yet to set the discounted price at which customers will be able to purchase Peacock Premium.

Xfinity

A few weeks ago, Peacock stopped offering its free, ad-supported standalone service to new users. The company said at the time that the change was made because it believes Peacock's paid tiers are the best way to enjoy the service. The move is likely because Peacock has yet to turn a profit for NBCU/Comcast, despite having 20 million subscribers in 2022 (up 9 million from the previous year).

The company had originally planned to phase out free access to the service for Comcast users, a spokesperson told Variety.
