Twitter suffered a major outage on Wednesday, with users trying to post updates seeing error messages instead, the most severe service outage since billionaire Elon Musk bought the platform in October.

For a period of time, many users encountered an error indicating that they had exceeded their daily Tweet limit. It was unclear what caused this outage or whether it affected all users equally.
Users revealed that if they scheduled their tweet to post later rather than immediately, they were more likely to post it successfully. By Wednesday evening, Twitter's main posting service had been restored, although several other services, such as direct messages, were still experiencing difficulties.
After experiencing unexpected outages that lasted more than an hour, the company used verified accounts to notify customers that it was aware of the problem and was working diligently to resolve it.

“Have you ever tried to retweet someone’s post, only to get a frustrating error message that says, ‘Sorry! You have exceeded your Tweet limit. Try Retweeting again tomorrow.’ If so, no need to worry—just wait until the next day and try again!”
Although the Twitter website sets a maximum daily limit of 2,400 posts per day, it is uncommon for users to exceed this.
Despite early predictions that Twitter's infrastructure could falter following its acquisition by Elon Musk and the subsequent staff reduction, these predictions have not come true to date.

Downdetector , a website that focuses on monitoring social media for outages, reported a sharp increase in complaints on Twitter since 5 p.m. ET on Wednesday night, with many users unable to send tweets from any account due to a supposed tweet limit warning.
